Permian Basin Horizontal Well Program
The Challenge
A mid-size operator was experiencing accelerating production decline across a portfolio of horizontal wells in a stacked unconventional play. Existing completion designs were underperforming relative to offset analogs, and the operator needed a defensible technical explanation before committing to a full-field redevelopment program.
Our Technical Approach
Conducted systematic Diagnostic Fracture Injection Testing (DFIT) analysis across representative wells to characterize in-situ stress, pore pressure, and fracture closure behavior. Integrated results with production data and completion records to identify root-cause drivers of underperformance. Delivered a calibrated completion optimization framework with stage-count and proppant loading recommendations.
The Value Delivered
Revised completion designs yielded a 25% increase in Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) per well across the redevelopment program — directly improving the economics of the operator's capital allocation and reserve booking.
